My name is Charis. I am a researcher and teacher who reads, writes, and talks about the politics of global development, the impacts of large investments in land and natural resources, and the effects of mega-infrastructure projects. The geographic focus of my work is sub-Saharan Africa, with my most recent fieldwork taking place in East and Central Africa. I am a Lecturer in International Development in the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield and an Affiliated Researcher at the East African Institute at Aga Khan University in Kenya.
